Food Truck Nerd Podcast Episode 18
We had to miss Moveable Feast on January 30 because the whole family spent the day at Macworld | iWorld Expo in San Francisco, ogling apps, fondling accessories, and awkwardly avoiding the gaze of skankily-clad booth babes. There were no food trucks for us there that day, but the previous night we did go to Berryessa to hang out with MoGo, just like we used to back in the early days. Ah, flashbacks.
- The TV show Fear Factor aired an episode recently that featured a custom wrapped food truck, but I really can’t recommend you watch it because, well, it’s disgusting. Literally. You can find it here for a limited time, but you have been warned. That said, pop culture mavens may recognize one of the participants as one of the most infamous American Idol contestants ever. You have been warned about that, too.
- Tickets for the San Jose Taco Festival of Innovation are now on sale. Buy them at http://sjtaco.com/tickets/ before February 29 to take advantage of early bird pricing.
- Project Cupcake is holding a “Free Cupcakes for Life” contest, but read the fine print carefully because the bar for entry is very, very high.
- Welcome to a couple of new trucks. JO’ on the GO is a coffee truck, and KoJa Kitchen serves Korean-Japanese fusion cuisine.
- The second Eat St. episode taped in San Jose, “Sounds Tasty,” is scheduled to air this week. The exact time is frustratingly hard to pin down, but Xfinity says they’ll air it Tuesday, 1/31/2012 at 5:00 PM on the Cooking Channel, and rerun it at 9:00 PM, and on Saturday at 1:30 PM. Check your local listings. Babaloo is featured, and Paulette and I were interviewed for this episode. Let’s see if we made the final cut. Hear all about it on Food Truck Nerd podcast episode 10.
- Starting February 10, 2012 Moveable Feast is adding Friday night events, 5:00 – 900 PM in Willow Glen (San Jose) at the Curtner Light Rail Station.
- Veggie Truckin’ has eaten at 99 different food trucks! I’m sure number 100 is imminent. Who will it be?
- Recordings
- A meandering chat with Treatbot‘s delightful scoop mistress Tuna. Recorded 11/12/2011 at Moveable Feast Garden City.
- The same day, my first visit to Project Cupcake and its owner, Kip. I came away cupcakeless that day, but happily I got to try one last week.
